Student Membership
While any student may attend a meeting, in order to be initiated into the Alpha Chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma, there are a few requirements that must be met. One of the first prerequisites is that a student must have a major in health education and promotion or a minor in public health. Secondly, a student has one academic year to complete a set of stipulations. They are as follows: attend eight Alpha Chapter meetings, volunteer at six ESG events, and be on two committee for an ESG event. Students must complete one committee per semester.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much of a time commitment is required?
- Very little as our organization holds hourly meetings every other week. In addition, members are encouraged to volunteer an hour of their time to help with ESG events on campus that occur about once a month.
- It's never too late to join! Even as a senior, there are multitude of rewards such as gaining experience to help prepare with the upcoming internship.
- Our organization has plenty of benefits for all of our members. Firstly, as future health educators, ESG will look great on a resume. This is also a way to network with other students and faculty members. If you're new the the program, this is a way to help decide if its right for you. You can also help make a difference on campus.
